Chapter 44

West

Azrael

The clouds were thick all around us as we flew to the west where the secret library was.

Wyatt, in his dragon form, fought the wind as Mandy, James, Edmond, Seraphina, and I held onto his back, huddling close to each other and trying our best to keep our balance as he strode through the air.

Edmond was sitting in the front with Mandy right behind him, wrapped in the arms of her mate. Seraphina was in between me and James, trying her best not to lean or fall into either one of us. But when the wind current tackled us, I instinctively wrapped my arms around her waist and pressed her body firmly into my own so she wouldn’t fall.

I could feel her heartbeat beating fast, but I didn’t know if it was because we were almost blown off Wyatt’s back or because she was pressed against me.

Tiny sparks flew through my body from where we were connected, and I had a hard time concentrating on our surroundings as pleasure lit a fire inside me.

“Are we close?”

James’s voice snapped me from the images that Silver started planting inside my head—images of our mate, her skin, how it would feel under my touch. Was it soft as it looked? Her lips being kissed passionately by my own, the taste of her kisses, her taste… would she be screaming my name… her moans…

Clearing my throat, I steeled myself to rid the betraying thoughts from my head. Hushing Silver and blocking him out, I forced myself to focus on the task at hand.

“We are,” I answered loudly. “Wyatt, lower us down a little once we break through the fourth barrier and look for an azure waterfall that goes into a lake in the middle of a mountain.”

Wyatt made a sound that indicated he understood, and he sped through the raging dark clouds, breaking each barrier until we went into a thunderstorm. After the thunderstorm, we went through an ice storm.

“What the hell is this weather!” James yelled, trying to shield himself and his mate from the raging storm.

“It’s magic!” I answered, covering Seraphina, using my body as a shield to protect her from the weather.

“Who would create magical weather?!” Mandy said, holding tightly onto James.

“Sothis!” Seraphina answered as her eyes locked onto my own.

“Are you okay?” I asked her.

Her eyes roamed over my features and stopped at my lips. The tip of her tongue peeked through her lips, wetting them and capturing my attention. I stared at it until it disappeared behind those luscious lips of hers.

“Y-yes,” she whispered breathlessly.

Before I could say anything else, Wyatt broke into the fourth barrier, revealing a storm that combined all three stages we just passed through.

For any weaker creature, this would have been deadly to try to fly through, but Wyatt was a dragon, a Beta at that, and he was a strong one, so I never doubted his abilities, knowing he would get us to our destination.

The weather was fighting us as thunder roared and lightning flashed, but Wyatt expertly avoided all of it.
